| And the Winners Are…We are happy to announce the winners of the Five Freedoms Photojournalism Contest! Middle school students from all over Massachusetts – from Springfield to Cape Cod to Boston - submitted photographs showing their representation of one of the Five Freedoms of the First Amendment. Each participating MNIEC newspaper chose five winners at the local level who then went on to state level judging. The entries were creative and thoughtful and all entrants should be very proud.
The winners, their families, and school officials have been invited to participate in an awards ceremony to be held at the State House in December. The students will have the honor of meeting and dining with Governor Deval Patrick.
The winners were chosen by three judges:
- Art Illman – Professional Photographer, Community Newspapers Company
- Cheryl Showstack – Educational Services Manager, Patriot Ledger and Brockton Enterprise
- Jeff
DeFrancesco
– Newspapers In Education Manager, Fosters Daily Democrat
